How the IBAN is built in Hungary
The IBAN (International Bank Account Number) in Hungary has 28 characters. It starts with the country code HU, followed by two check digits. The BBAN part (Basic Bank Account Number) then holds the bank code (3 digits, positions 5 to 7 of the IBAN) and the account number (15 digits, positions 13 to 27). Between the bank code and the account number there are 5 further digits (for example a branch code or check character).
Finding the BIC for Hungary
For Hungary our database holds 179 banks. When you enter a valid Hungary IBAN, we automatically find the BIC/SWIFT code and the bank name. For smaller or newer institutions there may be no entry; the IBAN is still valid in that case.
